Arid is a Belgian rock band that was formed in the mid 1990s. The voice of lead singer Jasper Steverlinck is particularly striking, and is sometimes compared to that of Jeff Buckley or Freddie Mercury . The band first attracted attention in Belgium in 1996 when they reached the finals of a music competition there.

Her first album Little Thing of Venom was released in 1998 (in the US under the title At the Close of Every Day ). After the album was successful, the band toured u. a. together with Suede , K's Choice and Counting Crows . In 2001 the band also became known in Germany when they contributed music to the IMAX 3D film Haunted Castle , in which their singer Jasper Steverlinck played the leading role.

In 2002 another studio album and a live album were released. Arid returned with All Things Come in Waves in 2008 (without bass player Filip Ros).
