ARID: A Journal of Desert Art, Design and Ecology is a scientific journal with the focus on the cross-disciplinary consideration of deserts in relation to design , culture and the environment . The journal is peer-reviewed and is aimed at scientists and the general public.
ARID was founded by a number of institutions in September 2012 and has been published irregularly since then, with around one issue a year. The previous edition was published in 2015 (as of November 2019).
Editors are:
- Greg Esser, Desert Initiative Director for ASU's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts
- Andrea Polli, Associate Professor in Art & Ecology at University of New Mexico .
- Kim Stringfellow, artist in Joshua Tree, California. She is an Associate Professor at San Diego State University's School of Art, Design, and Art History .
