Ariel Nasr

Ariel Nasr (* in Halifax , Canada ) is an Afghan - Canadian - American film director , screenwriter , film producer and cameraman who was nominated for an Oscar in 2013 and specializes in documentaries and short films.

Career

Nasr wrote the script for the National Film Board of Canada in 2008 and directed the war documentary Good Morning Kandahar . He also produced the film The Boxing Girls of Kabul for the above film authority. In the same year he produced the short film Buzkashi Boys together with the director Sam French , which shows the problems of Nasr's hometown Kabul and was also shot there. Buzkashi Boys has won numerous international awards, among others, he was at the Oscars 2013 in the category Best Short Film nomination. Nasr is also featured in other media such as radio . He is also active as an independent artist .
