Arik Benado ( Hebrew אריק בנאדו; Born December 5, 1973 in Haifa , Israel ) is a retired Israeli soccer player . At times he was Israel's record international player until he was replaced by Yossi Benayoun .

Player career

His father Shlomo played for Haifa in the 1970s. Arik started playing soccer at the age of nine and went through all youth teams up to seniors. In order to get match practice, he played for two years with Beitar in the mid-1990s and then returned to Haifa. He won the national championship several times and once the cup with Maccabi Haifa. He played his first international match on May 17, 1995 against the then world champions Brazil . In 2002, with Maccabi Haifa, he became the first Israeli team to make it into the group stage of the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League . On September 3, 2005, he became Israel's record international player with his 86th international match. In 2006, after ten years in Haifa, he returned to Beitar Jerusalem, with whom he became a master in 2007. He made his last international match on September 8, 2007 (0-3 against England).
