Aris Argiris

Aris Argiris (* 1974 in Athens ) is a Greek opera singer with a baritone voice .

Life

Aris Argiris studied marketing and languages, saxophone and music theory as well as singing with Kostas Paskalis , Frangiskos Voutsinos and Despina Kalafati in his hometown . In 1999 he received the Maria Callas Scholarship in Athens and continued his vocal studies in the master class of Daphne Evangelatos at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . During his studies he took part in concerts and performances in the Prinzregententheater in Munich and in the Gewandhaus Leipzig .

Guest engagements have taken him to the Hamburg State Opera , the Royal Opera (Stockholm) , the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Komische Oper Berlin , the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Royal Opera House London, La Monnaie Brussels, the Michailowski Theater St. Petersburg, the Theater an der Wien as well as the Teatro Colón Buenos Aires and the Arena of Verona .

He had permanent engagements at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, the Dortmund Theater , the Bonn Opera and the Frankfurt Opera .

Since 2016 he has been a professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin.

His most important roles sung to date include Don Giovanni, among others Figaro (G. Rossini: Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Escamillo (G. Bizet: Carmen), G. Germont (G. Verdi: La Traviata), Marcello (G. Puccini : La Bohème), Rodrigo di Posa (G. Verdi: Don Carlo), Dandini (G. Rossini: La Cenerentola), Conte d'Almaviva (WA Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), Lord Enrico Asthon (Donizetti: Lucia di Lammermoor ), Valentin (Gounod: Faust), Francesco (G.Verdi: I Masnadieri), Francesco Foscari (G.Verdi: I due Foscari), the four villains (J. Offenbach: Hoffman's stories), Conte di Luna (G. Verdi : Il Trovatore) etc.

Movies

Aris Argiris could be seen as Escamillo in Bizet's "Carmen" in the first 3-D opera film. The production of this opera was recorded in 2010 at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London. The film premiered on February 6, 2011 in Los Angeles (Santa Barbara Film Festival).

Prizes and awards

  • 2002 laureate of the international singing competition of the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera
  • Awarded the best young artist in Greece by the Greek Association of Music and Theater Critics.
