Aris Quartet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Aris Quartet is a string quartet with members Anna Katharina Wildermuth (violin), Noémi Zipperling (violin), Caspar Vinzens (viola) and Lukas Sieber (violoncello).

History and activities

The ensemble was founded in 2009 on the initiative of the chamber musician Hubert Buchberger (Buchberger Quartet). The members were between 15 and 18 years old at the time and all of them were young students at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main . They didn't know each other back then. Started as an experiment, the Aris Quartet soon embarked on an international career. The musicians have been New Generation Artists of the BBC since autumn 2018 . The quartet continues to play in its original line-up. The name of the ensemble is made up of the last letters of the first names of the members.

For the first few years, the Aris Quartet was looked after by his mentor Hubert Buchberger, and from 2015 the musicians began studying with Günter Pichler ( Alban Berg Quartet ) at the escuela superior de música reina sofía in Madrid. The training was supplemented by artistic impulses from the Artemis Quartet and the music teacher Eberhard Feltz. The Aris Quartet now plays internationally at major music festivals and in concert halls. The Konzerthaus Berlin , the Alte Oper Frankfurt , the Liederhalle Stuttgart , the Wigmore Hall in London or the Laeiszhalle Hamburg are venues for the Aris Quartet. The ensemble gives around 90 concerts per season.
