Tipula confusa is a mosquito from the family of the Schnaken (Tipulidae).

features

The medium-sized gnats have a body length of 11-15 mm. The wingspan is 10–16 mm. The gnats usually have their wings laid on when at rest. The wings have marbled dark and pale spots.

distribution

Tipula confusa occurs in western Europe and is quite common. The distribution area extends from the Iberian Peninsula across Central Europe to Scandinavia. The species is also represented in the British Isles and Iceland.

Way of life

The species is one of the gnats that fly late in the year. Your flight time lasts from September to November. Spruce and beech forests and gardens form typical habitats for the species. The larvae develop in deciduous mosses .
