Hubert Buchberger

Hubert Buchberger (* 1951 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German violinist, conductor and music college teacher.

Hubert Buchberger studied violin and chamber music with Heinz Stanske and Günther Weigmann at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts from 1970 to 1977 .

In 1974 he was a founding member of the Buchberger Quartet, of which he was the leader until its dissolution in 2014. In 1978 and 1979 the quartet was awarded the “Federal Selection of Young Artists” by the German Music Council and won international competitions in Portsmouth, Hanover and Evian. He has also directed the Offenbach Chamber Orchestra since 1974.

In 1977 Buchberger received a teaching position at the Frankfurt Music Academy, in 1985 he was made an honorary professor there and in 1988 he was appointed full-time professor of chamber music. He teaches chamber music / song composition and chamber music for strings. Various concert ensembles have emerged from his chamber music classes. From 1991 to 1994 he was Vice Rector , from May 1998 to November 2000 Dean of the Artistic Education Department, and from November 2000 to July 2002 Vice President of the College of Music.

As a juror he participates in state and federal competitions " Jugend musiziert " and other music competitions. Since 2007 he has been the artistic director of the Osnabrück Chamber Music Days.

Buchberger lives in Bad Vilbel .
