Aristide Gorelli

Aristide Gorelli (born August 13, 1915 in Marseille , † November 5, 2010 ibid) was a French football player .

Career

Gorelli played as a young adult for the reserve team of the first division Olympique Marseille ; in a friendly against AC Milan in October 1934, he was first used in the club's professional team. He made his professional debut in the top French division for the first team when he was on the field in a 1-1 draw against EAC Roubaix on January 12, 1936. The defender then booked sporadic additional missions, which was also due to the fact that the rules of the time prohibited substitutions and substitutions. The footballer last played on October 11, 1936 against FC Antibes in the jersey of Marseille. His last of four first division games meant for him that he was part of the team that was able to secure the national championship title in the 1936/37 season; nevertheless he ended his career afterwards.

As a soldier, the former professional fought in World War II from 1939 and became a prisoner of war. First he was imprisoned in Eastern Europe before he was brought to Alsace , which was occupied by the Wehrmacht ; in Alsace he was a member of the football team in his camp. At the end of the war he returned to Marseille, where he began to work as a technical draftsman . At the time of his death in November 2010, he was the last survivor of the championship team at the age of 95, 73 years after winning the title.
