Aristocles (son of Nicomachus)
Aristocles ( Greek Άριστοκλῆς ) was a Greek sculptor who worked towards the end of the 1st century BC. And was active at the beginning of the 1st century.
Aristocles was the son of a Nicomachus and came from the island of Rhodes . He signed a marble stele dating from the end of the 1st century BC. BC and the beginning of the 1st century and thus falls either in the time of the outgoing Roman Republic or the beginning of the Roman Empire . The stele was found incorporated into a fountain in Athens and is now in the Musée de Grenoble . However, their authenticity is disputed in research.
