Aristotle Semitico-Latinus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a sub-project of Aristoteles Latinus, the Aristoteles Semitico-Latinus is a sub- project of the Corpus philosophorum medii aevi of the Union Académique Internationale for the edition of translations of the writings of Aristotle , which were the basis for the important philosophical-theological reception of the Greek philosopher in the Middle Ages .

The aim is to edit Syrian , Arabic and Hebrew, partly also Persian, translations or paraphrases of works by Aristotle as well as their Latin translations and the medieval commentaries on these translations. The project was founded in 1971 by Hendrik Joan Drossaart Lulofs in collaboration with Lorenzo Minio Paluello , who was then head of Aristoteles Latinus . The directors and editors are currently Hans Daiber , Professor of Oriental Studies at the University of Frankfurt am Main , and Remke Kruk , Professor Emeritus of Arabic Studies at the University of Leiden .
