Arjopa Limburg (* 1969 in Berlin ) is a German khoomei throat singer, musician and painter .

Life

It was named Arjopa (Tibetan for pilgrim) after the book by Alexandra David-Neel . Through the Berlin audio archive of the Ethnological Museum , she came into contact with the shamanic throat chants of the peoples of Tuva, the Altai region and Mongolia in her youth .

After training in classical singing, studying acting and studying expressive dance with Lotti Huber , Arjopa turned to jazz in 1988 and then to the Tuvinian khoomei throat singing and composing his own world music pieces and songs. In 1989 Arjopa met Tuvin and Mongolian throat singing masters, who invited them to continue studying Khoomei throat singing in their country of origin. Since 1990 Arjopa has toured Mongolia and the South Siberian Republic of Tuva several times. In 2003 the Ministry of Culture in Kyzyl appointed her as the only non-Tuvinian member of the jury of the Khoomei Symposium. Other members were Albert Kuwesin from the band Yat-Kha and Kongar-ool Ondar .

Together with founding members of the Krautrock bands Guru Guru and Embryo (band) , including Edgar Hofman , the first CD recordings were made in the mid-1990s. In 1999 the textbook "Arjopa-Choomii, the Mongolian overtone singing " was published by the Frankfurt publishing house Zweiausendeins .

Since 2000 Arjopa has been playing her “Khoomei Throatsing Country Punk” or “Khoomei Throatsinging Country Punk” together with The Master U-like and various musicians in concerts in Germany, Tuwa, Russia, Poland, Turkey and Great Britain.

Arjopa also works as a painter and has exhibited her “Shamanic Pop Art” in Berlin, Potsdam, Ulan-Bataar and Kyzyl.

Arjopa is one of the German supporters of stucco , they disbanded in the summer of 2007, reformed a few weeks later, and renamed themselves "conglomerate".
