The Sary Chelek lake near Arkit

Arkit is a village in the north of the Jalalabat region in Kyrgyzstan .

The elongated place is picturesquely located in the valley of the Kodscha-Ata river in the western Tian-Shan Mountains, about 8 km (as the crow flies) south of the mountain lake Sary-Tschelek , and is the headquarters of the Sary-Tschelek nature reserve, recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve since 1978 .

The village is located in Aksy Rajon and administratively belongs to the municipality ( Aiyl Okmotu ) Kyzyl Tuu , which includes the main town Kyzyl Tuu and the villages Jylgyn and Jol-Say .
