Armand Blanquet du Chayla

Armand-Louis-Gérald Bénigne de Blanquet du Chayla (born December 10, 1898 Soissons , † March 1996 ) was a French diplomat .

Life

Armand de Blanquet du Chayla was the son of Régine de la Sizeranne and Pierre de Blanquet du Chayla. He entered the diplomatic service in 1924 and has served in Constantinople , Washington, DC , Madrid , Riga and Havana .

He was ambassador to Luxembourg from February 1, 1945 to May 26, 1946 . From May 26, 1946 to April 26, 1952, he was the first ambassador to Beirut . From April 26, 1952 to March 2, 1955 he was ambassador to Stockholm . From March 16, 1955 to October 25, 1956, during the Suez crisis , he was ambassador to Cairo . From 1956 to 1957 he served at the headquarters in Paris. From August 1, 1958 to June 8, 1962 he was ambassador to Buenos Aires . With the fall of Juan Perón in 1955, the training of Argentine officers in France was intensified. Under the leadership of the military attaché , Colonel François Serralta and with the support of de Blanquet du Chayla, the French armed forces and the Argentine armed forces agreed to work together at the end of 1959 ; this was a basis for the escuela francesa , a training course for asymmetrical warfare . From June 8, 1962 to February 28, 1964, Blanquet du Chayla was Ambassador to Francisco Franco in Madrid .
