Armando Alba Zambrana

Armando Alba Zambrana (born February 9, 1901 in Potosí ; † October 10, 1974 ibid) was a Bolivian writer , publisher , politician and diplomat .

Life

Armando Alba Zambrana was the son of María Zambrana and Wenceslao Alba. He was married to the poet María Luisa Alduante de Alba (* 1905 in Potosí, † 1989). Their children were María Amparo, Jaime, Ana María and María Luisa.

In 1930 Alba Armando Zambrana was chairman of the Concejo Municipal de Potosí. He was a member of the literary group Gesta Bárbara . He founded a publishing house Potosí, which was devoted to the publication of Bolivian literature. From 1947 to 1948 he was Ministro de Educación y Asuntos Indígenas ( Minister of Education ) in the government of Enrique Hertzog . He sat for Potosí in the Senate and was prefect of the Departamento de Potosí. He was ambassador to Madrid and Caracas .

Under his leadership, the Casa de la Moneda was reopened as a museum , he was a member of the Sociedad Geográfica y de Historia de Potosí and editor of the magazine Sur .
