Armando Cabrera

Armando Cabrera (born March 13, 1921 in Santiago de los Caballeros ) is a Dominican composer .

The musical self-taught Cabrera won a radio competition as a song accompanist on the guitar as a teenager. In the 1940s he formed the trio Trovadores Modernos with Alcibiades Sánchez and Pedro Ureña . On the broadcaster La Voz del Yuna (later La Voz Dominicana ) he appeared with the Trio Azteca (with Emilio Cabucia and Emilio Castillo ).

Cabrera became known as the composer of boleros such as Veneno , who was recorded by the Sexteto Flores , later Rafael Colón and Marcelino Plácido , and Amor y odio y Ella . His most famous composition was the Bolero Tú me haces falta , which was recorded by singers such as José Feliciano , Tania Libertad and Panchito Riset . In 1988 Cabrera founded the Trio Los Tres with Carlos Vargas and El Niño Peña .
