The construction

The chapel has a floor area of 3.40 × 2.10 m. The windowless sides are around 2.55 m high, the building itself is 4 m high at the front and 3.80 m high at the back, due to the hill on which the chapel stands.

The entrance to the chapel is an approximately two meter high wooden door with glazing and a grille. The roof is covered with U-shaped shingles.

At the back there is a wooden cross about eight meters high, which is held by three supports.

The interior

The interior of the chapel

The interior is kept in white, the ceiling of the square-looking room is based on a cross vault.

The chapel itself has a small wooden wall altar. Flowers are placed on this, especially in the warm season. A Pietà is kept in a niche behind it . There is also a bench for prayer, several candlesticks are lit during prayer and mass. A plaque on the left wall tells the history of the building.

The area around the chapel

The left of the two rear linden trees

The area is bordered by nine linden trees, seven in front of the chapel and two behind it. The latter two, in which large parts of the crowns partially broke away, are under nature protection.

The front linden trees are arranged in a kind of avenue, which begins 50 meters in front of the chapel parallel to the street. At its end, turned slightly to the left, is the chapel. There are always two trees next to each other. The third linden tree on the left, which has no opposite, is an exception.

The main road passes to the north, a footpath and cycle path to the south. From here a staircase leads up to the chapel.

history

The chapel was built in the 18th century. In 1954, the house of God still had a small, no longer existing, porch, a kind of extension of the lintel, supported by two columns. In 1968 the carved Christ-Corpus, which previously hung on the cross behind the chapel, was transferred from the nearby main road to the Kreuzkapelle due to weather conditions and because of the exhaust gas pollution. In 1979 the chapel was moved by five meters due to road construction work and finally renovated and rededicated in 1996/97. A new Pieta was also donated after it was found in 1995 that the old one had disappeared without a trace between 1979 and this point in time.

Today the chapel is mainly a topic of conversation in connection with the planned lowering of the federal highway. The roadway is to be removed at the highest point of the summit by six to seven meters. The location of the chapel is to be retained and the hill is to be held by a retaining wall. Since there is resistance to the project in the village, it will be checked again. The chapel is open to visitors for visits and prayers, especially on Sundays.
