Armet, 15th century
Armet

The Armet is a visor helmet of Italian origin that originated from the Hundsgugel around 1420 .

description

The tight-fitting helmet bowl of the Armet ended in a narrow neck strip to which a stem disc was attached. Two large cheek pieces hung on hinges from the bell, and a slotted edge visor with rotating bolts was attached to it. The cheek pieces were closed on the front and in this way formed a chin bar . A beard to protect the neck and chin was often worn with an arm, which was fastened to the neck area with leather straps. At the beginning of the 16th century , the German visor helmet and the closed helmet emerged from the Armet . The coat helmet developed around 1525 is also derived from the Armet.
