Armin Diem

Armin Diem (born May 1, 1903 in Dornbirn - Haselstauden ; † August 15, 1951 ) was a Vorarlberg dialect and local poet . Diem is considered the poet of Dornbirn, in whose dialect he also wrote his works.

Life

Armin Diem was born on May 1, 1903, the thirteenth and youngest child of his mother and father, Matthäus Diem, a butcher and cattle dealer, in the Gasthaus Schäfle in Haselstauden. Five of his siblings died in childhood.

After attending secondary school, Diem began working in a sawmill. He was a forester by profession , which is why this area was also reflected in his seals.

At the age of 18 he wrote his first poems. In his works he dealt with Dornbirn as well as the local dialect and its orthographic peculiarities.

Diem died on August 15, 1951. In his honor, a street was named after him in his home district of Haselstauden .
