Armin Lindauer

Armin Lindauer (* 1958 in Mannheim ) is a German graphic designer , painter , author and university professor .

Live and act

Lindauer studied at the University of Düsseldorf , the Bodensee Kunstschule Konstanz (today Konstanz University ) and the Berlin University of the Arts (since 2001 University of the Arts). In 1984 he became a master student of Helmut Lortz at the HdK Berlin. After graduating, he began to work as a freelance graphic designer and visual artist and had his own studio in Berlin. From 1984 to 1997 he taught at the Hdk Berlin. In 2000 he was appointed professor for editorial design and typography at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.

Lindauer works in the applied areas of book and catalog design, corporate design , signet and poster design. His work has been awarded national and international design prizes, including a. with the iF Award Gold, the Red Dot Award “best of the best”, the Joseph Binder Award Silver, and several times from the Type Directors Club New York. His free work has been exhibited regularly. In 1987 he was awarded the Nuremberg City Draftsman Art Prize .

He works as an author and publishes books on design topics, including Helmut Lortz | Memories and Helmut Lortz - slightly sensible , a typographically staged book that won an award. His conceptual photographs of the Berlin Wall before it fell are the basis for the panorama book The Berlin Wall - The Beginning of the End . The method book Experimental Design - Visual Method and Systematic Play was published in 2015 with Bettina Müller. Lindauer lives and works in Mannheim and Berlin.

Philatelic

Armin Lindauer designs postage stamps for the Federal Ministry of Finance. For the 2019 edition, he designed the “Konzerthaus Blaibach” brands and the “For Sport” series.
