Life

After training and a. at the national British circus theater school "Fooltime" in Bristol, the Ecole Philippe Gaulier, London and the Hogeschool vor de Kunsten Utrecht, he completed his studies in applied cultural studies / aesthetic practice in Hildesheim with a focus on theater and visual arts .

In his diploma thesis ("Kalkofes Mattscheibe" and Schlingensief "Talk 2000") he developed a formal language for German stage and television comedy of the 1990s. He is also the author of the article " Comedy " in the Handbook of Popular Culture (Verlag JBMetzler)

At German city and state theaters, Nagel worked with the directors Albrecht Hirche (Theaterhaus Jena) Sebastian Nübling (State Theater Hanover) and the New York Biennale artist Christian Marclay (Bavarian State Theater, Munich).

The Arab pop star Mohamed Mounir played at Nagel's side in the German-Tunisian film production “Mr. Macke's Journey to a Distant Land” .

In his theatrical work, his focus was on the representation of comic figures and characters. At first, Nagel was seen as a representative of physical comedy with a thematic focus on “modern working environments”. In the meantime, especially through his work as a presenter at German variety stages, he is expanding his thematic spectrum and integrating stand-up elements into his repertoire.

Armin Nagel was prizewinner of the “Heilbronner Lorbeeren” (2003), the open air festival “Bamberg zaubert” (2002) and the “Lower Saxony Artists Gala” (1996).

As a service artist, Nagel has been involved in artistic urban development since 2016. With the team of "service pioneers" he transforms "places of horror" into service paradises in urban interventions. This resulted in u. a. the performance "W-ART - The Art of Waiting" for the Cologne Theater, which was awarded the German Call Center Prize in 2017.

Nagel also speaks about his experiences as a border crosser between art and the world of work as a key note speaker at national and international conferences and congresses.
