Armin Wolf (born February 15, 1961 in Regensburg ) is a German sports journalist and reporter .

Career

Wolf graduated from the Goethe-Gymnasium in Regensburg in 1980 and after completing his military service began studying German, history and social studies at the University of Regensburg in the field of teaching for high schools. From 1989 to 1991 he completed training as an industrial clerk at a chemical company in Abensberg, where he worked until 1997.

Since 1982 Wolf has been a freelancer in the field of sports for daily and weekly newspapers as well as for sports magazines.

In 1988 he started his broadcasting career at the Regensburg local radio broadcaster Radio Donauspatz (today gong fm ) with an interview with the then soccer coach Dettmar Cramer . After the merger of the radio stations gong fm and Charivari Regensburg in 1991 to form Funkhaus Regensburg , Armin Wolf was active as a sports reporter for both stations. From 1995 to 1997 Armin Wolf also headed the ice hockey editorial team at the local television station TVA . Since 1997 he has been the head of sports at Funkhaus Regensburg.

Wolf is best known for his live broadcasts from the fields of soccer, ice hockey and judo. His fans also call him the "sports voice of Eastern Bavaria". In addition, his competencies are also used by radio stations throughout Germany for live broadcasts, mainly in the field of ice hockey.

Wolf lives in Regensburg and has been married since August 4, 2007.

Armin Wolf Arena

In 1997 the most modern baseball stadium in Germany was built in Regensburg, where the Bundesliga baseball team Buchbinder Legionäre plays its home games. As a thank you for his help with the planning, construction and financing of the stadium, Armin Wolf was chosen as the name giver. In 2009, the Armin Wolf Arena hosted a group of the preliminary round of the baseball world championship. The arena was modernized for 1.5 million euros and the capacity temporarily increased to over 10,000 spectators. In addition to the German national team, teams from the USA and China competed in the Armin Wolf Arena at the World Cup. The stadium was also the venue for the 2012 World Cup. Canada, the Czech Republic, Germany and Great Britain met each other. In 2016 the sports boarding school in Regensburg was attached to the Armin-Wolf-Arena. It offers living and training opportunities for 30 young athletes.
