Arnaud Merlin

Arnaud Merlin (* 1963 in Tours ) is a French music journalist and author.

Life

Arnaud Merlin studied music at the Sorbonne ( University of Paris IV ) and at the Paris Conservatory and was awarded the prizes for the history of music and aesthetics. He has been active in music journalism since 1985. He wrote u. a. for the magazines Jazz Hot and Le Monde de la musique . From 1992 to 2004 he was a journalist at Jazzman and from 1994 to 2002 editor at Cité Musiques of the Cité de la musique . Merlin has been producing jazz and new music programs for France Musique since 1996 on the state broadcaster Radio France .

In 2002 he was a juror at the Concours internationaux de la Ville de Paris - Concours de piano jazz Martial Solal. Merlin was a member of the Artistic Committee of the Anglo-French Fund for Contemporary Music Diaphonique . He is a member of the Jazz & Blues (coordination) and contemporary music commissions of the Charles Cros Academy and the Jazz Europe commission of the Académie du Jazz .

In 2012 he was awarded the Irmaward of the Center d'information et de ressources pour les musiques actuelles in the jazz category.
