Arnd Beise

Arnd Beise (born August 8, 1964 in Offenbach am Main ) is a German German philologist and university professor.

Life

Arnd Beise studied German literature, art history, philosophy as well as graphics and painting at the University of Marburg, received his doctorate in 1998 and qualified as a professor in 2007 in the field of modern German literature. After teaching assignments and professorships at various universities, he has been a full professor of German literature and literary history at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) since 2011 . His main research interests are the history of culture and literature since the early modern period, especially the relationship between literature and society and other arts.

Since 2000 he has been chairman of the International Peter Weiss Society (IPWG) and since 2004 a member of the board of the Working Group of Literary Societies and Memorials (ALG). He is a member of the scientific advisory boards of the “historical-critical complete edition” of the works of Jeremias Gotthelf and the magazine Colloquium Helveticum .

Arnd Beise can be found with articles in numerous literary magazines and again and again in the daily newspaper Junge Welt .
