Arnd Stephan (born January 24, 1965 in Dresden ) is a German electrical engineer . Since 2002 he has been a professor, and since 2008 he has held the Chair of Electric Railways at the Institute for Railway Vehicles and Railway Technology at the Faculty of Transport Science "Friedrich List" at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

From 1985 Stephan studied electrical engineering / electric railways at the University of Transportation . He completed his studies in 1990 with a diploma. He wrote his diploma thesis on the subject of investigations into the design of main transformers for high-performance and high-speed vehicles . From 1990 to 1993 he continued to work as a research student at the Transport University. In 1995 the doctorate followed , the topic was the line dimensioning of locomotive transformers .

In 1997 he was appointed lecturer in the field of electrical railways at the Transport Faculty of the TU Dresden, and in 2002 he was appointed honorary professor for unconventional electrical transport systems . On September 1, 2008, he was appointed professor for electric railways there.

From 1993 to 2008 he worked for the IFB Institute for Railway Technology in Dresden. From 1993 initially as a research assistant, from 1995 as branch manager. From 2003 he worked as an authorized signatory for the company, since 2012 he has been the company's managing director. Since 2004 he has been managing director of the competence center for high-performance railways and maglev systems at the TU Dresden.

Since 1997 he has appeared with Ulrich Eißner as the cabaret group Duale Satire Deutschland (DSD). Since 2011 he has been a member of the editorial board of the specialist magazine “ Elektro Bahnen” .
