Arnd Uhle

Arnd Ludwig Uhle (* 1971 ) is a German legal scholar with the research priorities State - and administrative law . He holds the chair for public law, in particular for constitutional law, general political theory and constitutional theory at the University of Leipzig and is a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Free State of Saxony.

Life

After studying law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , Uhle received his doctorate in 1999 from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a thesis on parliamentary influence on ordinances. For this work he received the Science Prize of the German Bundestag in 1999 and the Prize of the Law Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich in 2000. In 2003 the habilitation followed with a study on the cultural conditions of the liberal constitutional state, which was awarded the Friedwart Bruckhaus Prize 2005/2006 by the Hanns Martin Schleyer Foundation .

In 2009 Uhle was appointed to the law faculty of the Technical University of Dresden . In the same year he became their vice dean and in 2016 their dean. In 2015, he turned down an offer from the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) . In 2017 Uhle moved to the law faculty at Leipzig University . There he is Managing Director of the Institute for Law and Politics.

Uhle has been head of the Law and Political Science Section of the Görres Society for the Care of Science since 2012, and has also been the conference leader of the Essen Talks on State and Church since 2019. In addition, he is an advisor to Commission VIII (Science and Culture) of the German Bishops' Conference and Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Institute for State Church Law of the Dioceses of Germany. In 2017 Uhle was elected by the Saxon state parliament as judge of the constitutional court of the Free State of Saxony .
