Arndt Teichmann

Arndt Teichmann (born December 3, 1934 in Dresden ) is a German legal scholar and former university lecturer.

life and work

Teichmann studied psychology and law at the universities of Munich and Göttingen . He passed his first and second state examinations in law in Göttingen and subsequently worked from 1959 as a research assistant at Gerd Rinck's Göttingen chair . Under his supervision, Teichmann was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. He then worked as Rinck's research assistant and completed his habilitation in 1969 after a research stay at the University of Aix-Marseille .

From 1971 Teichmann was a professor at the University of Kiel . In 1972 he moved to the University of Mainz , where he held the full professorship for general legal theory, civil law, commercial and company law, German and European business law until his retirement in 2003. From 1974 to 1999 he was also a judge in the second main office at the Higher Regional Court in Koblenz .

Teichmann's main research areas were methodology, law of obligations, corporate law and competition law. He also gained notoriety in professional circles through his extensive comments in the BGB commentaries Jauernig and Soergel and in the commentary on the Transformation Act published by Marcus Lutter .
