Arni Cheatham

Arni Cheatham (born 1944 or 1945) is an American jazz musician ( saxophone , flute ) who is active in the Boston music scene.

Live and act

Cheatham played in the Boston jazz rock band Thing in the 1970s ; He has been a member of the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra since 1990 and has appeared on numerous big band albums such as The Seeker (2000) and Impressions (2014). In 1985 he published the album Romantha Rumination (Talented Tenth Records) under his own name , on which Bruce Katz (piano), Ken Filiano or Joe Fitzgerald (bass) and Nick Prout (drums) participated. In the field of jazz he was involved in 28 recording sessions between 1990 and 2015. In the Makanda Project he played music by Boston jazz musician Makanda Ken McIntyre . Cheatham is also a photographer and music educator. In 2013 he was honored as a Jazz Hero by the Jazz Journalists Association and the JazzBoston Association .
