Arno Wand (* 1943 in Geismar ) is a German Roman Catholic priest , church historian and author.

Life

Arno Wand was born the son of Philipp Wand (1908–1996) and Hedwig Wand (1914–1997) in Eichsfeld . From 1962 to 1969 he studied at the Philosophical-Theological Studies in Erfurt and in the pastoral seminar in Neuzelle ; the doctorate to Dr. theol. took place in 1996 at the University of Salzburg (" The disputes between the Catholic imperial monastery for the Holy Cross and the Protestant imperial city of Nordhausen in the years 1648 to 1802 ").

In 1969 he was ordained a priest in Erfurt Cathedral and since then has been active in pastoral care (chaplain, pastor). 1972/73 he was pastor at St. Josef in Ilmenau , from 1981 to 1992 pastor of the cathedral parish of Nordhausen and then worked in clinical pastoral care , as rector in the St. Vinzenz Hospital Heilbad Heiligenstadt and since 2002 as rector in the Eichsfeld Clinic with the Locations in Heiligenstadt, Worbis and Reifenstein . He retired on September 30, 2012.

Wand is a non-fiction author and publishes on local and regional history, regional studies and church history of Thuringia.
