Arnulfo Cortés

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arnulfo Cortés (born July 9, 1934 ), also known by the nickname Lacua and according to other sources as Ranulfo Cortés , is a retired Mexican football player who acted both in midfield and in attack .

career

As far as understandable, Arnulfo Cortés began his career as a professional footballer at Club Deportivo Oro , for which he scored a total of 16 goals in the 1953/54 season (including three in the 4-3 home win against Club Atlante on September 27, 1953) and himself thus recommended for the World Cup squad in Mexico at the 1954 World Cup . There, however, he did not get beyond the reserve existence and was never later to be used for the Mexican national team . After another season with CD Oro, for which he only scored one goal in 1954/55 (in the 2: 3 home defeat against CD Irapuato on September 19, 1954), he moved to Club Deportivo Guadalajara before the 1955/56 season , for which he scored three goals this season.

  1. The indication of the first name follows RSSSF and ArchivosFutMex (see the following sources). The date of birth is given in some Wikipedia language versions without a source and cannot be traced back to any known source. However, it does not seem absurd insofar as the 1953/54 season was Arnulfo Cortés' first known season.
