Benoît Arrive

Benoît Arrivé (born March 8, 1975 ) is a French politician and since 2016 the Lord Mayor (French Maire ) of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin , an old and still important port city with 80,959 inhabitants (2014) on the English Channel .

Schools visited: Collège de Bricquebec and Lycée Henri-Cornat in Valognes (degree Bac D, Mathématiques et Sciences de la nature). His next professional qualification is a DUT Techniques de commercialization at the IUT Cherbourg-Manche (branch of the University of Caen ) in 1995. After 15 years at a bank, he joined a relative's energy company.

From the age of 19 he was politically active in the left-wing party spectrum. Since 2012 he has been secretary of the Fédération de la Manche of the Parti socialiste (PS) . In June 1995 he was elected to the Cherbourg-Octeville parish council on a PS list. Since 2001 he has also been a member of the Communauté urbaine de Cherbourg (CUC). In 2008 he became a Vice-President of the Urbaine Community and in April 2014 he was elected President.

On January 3, 2016, the election as mayor of the then newly composed community followed.
