Artedius is a genus of fish from the family of the thick-headed bullheads (Psychrolutidae). The species of the genus occur close to the coast in the northeastern Pacific from the Russian commander's islands over the Bering Sea , the Aleutian Islands , the coast of Alaska , Canada and the USA to northern Baja California (Mexico). They live in shallow water from the intertidal zone to depths of around 55 meters and in tidal pools .

Artedius species are elongated fish with a beefy head that reach a length of 10 to 25 cm. Your back is more or less scaly. The scales can extend almost over the entire back or only represent a narrow band. The upper spine of the gill cover is short and has one or more points. The anus is just in front of the beginning of the anal fin .
