Branching of the costocervical trunk in humans

The deep cervical artery ("deep cervical artery") is an artery in the neck. It mostly arises from the costocervical trunk and runs between the first costal neck and the transverse process of the seventh cervical vertebra towards the spine and between the semispinalis capitis and cervicis muscles towards the head, where it disappears at the level of the second cervical vertebra . The deep cervical artery supplies the deep neck muscles.
