Median sacral artery
The median sacral artery ("central cross artery") is an artery in the abdominal cavity . It is unpaired and arises from the abdominal aorta in the area of its bifurcation. The median sacral artery runs on the ventral side of the sacrum and ends in humans in the area of the coccyx . It also supplies the vertebral canal via small branches and anastomoses with the iliolumbar artery . In animals, it continues into the median caudal artery , which is the main vessel of the tail .
