Arthur Haggai Or

Arthur Haggai Okelo Oder (born September 25, 1938 in Aboke , † June 26, 2006 ) was a judge at the Supreme Court of Uganda , the highest court in Uganda .

After finishing school, Oder studied in Great Britain from 1960 . The law school he graduated from in 1965, in 1966 he was admitted as a lawyer . At the end of 1966 he returned to Uganda, where he initially practiced as a lawyer.

In 1977, Oder fled into exile in Zambia . After the political upheaval in Uganda in 1979, Oder returned to Uganda in mid-1980, where he was appointed a judge on the High Court. In 1988 he was appointed to the Supreme Court. As such, Or was also a member of the investigative commission that investigated human rights violations from 1962 to 1986. The commission completed its work in 1994.

Or suffered from cancer, diabetes and high blood pressure. He died on June 26, 2006.
