Arthur Herman Holmgren

Arthur Herman Holmgren (born November 18, 1912 in Midvale (Utah) , † December 24, 1992 in Logan ) was an American botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " AHHolmgren ".

Holmgren studied at the University of Utah with a bachelor's degree in 1936 and at Utah State Agricultural College with a master's degree in 1942. He worked at various agricultural research stations and was from 1943 professor of botany and director of the Intermountain Herbarium at Utah State University . In 1978 he retired.

He had been married since 1934 and had two sons and two daughters. He played the violin in the orchestra at his university and was a passionate hobby gardener.

Several plant taxa were named in his honor.
