Arthur Hiller (medic)

Arthur Hiller (born December 17, 1878 in Koenigsberg , † December 1, 1949 in Sucre , Bolivia ) was a German-Jewish doctor.

Life

He studied medicine at the Albertus University in Königsberg . After completing his doctorate and specialist training, he settled in Königsberg as an orthopedic surgeon .

As senior staff doctor he became head of the Königsberg garrison hospital when the First World War broke out in 1914 .

During the Nazi era he gave up his medical practice in 1937 and emigrated to Paris in January 1938 and from there to Bolivia in 1939 , where he worked in remote provinces until his death. He was buried in the Jewish cemetery in Sucre.

The family moved to Santa Cruz de la Sierra , where their son Hanns Hiller founded an orphanage and became honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany .
