Arthur Lavis (born June 14, 1924 in Plymouth , United Kingdom , † January 15, 1999 in Ely ) was a British cameraman .

Life

Lavis joined the film industry in 1940, just 16 years old, and learned his trade from scratch. He initially worked for many years as a camera assistant , and in the late 1950s as a cameraman for documentaries and for television commercials. Since 1961 he has been the head cameraman of feature films, mostly B-Pictures of minor importance. Lavis received the first response in 1967/68 when he was behind the camera in two tight, no-frills productions (“ The Penthouse ”, “ London Junction ”) by Peter Collinson . Then, at the beginning of 1971, Lavis achieved considerable public success with a few episodes of the television series about a scruffy and odd time traveler, Catweazle . Lavis' later work is completely meaningless.
