Arthur Selbmann
Arthur Selbmann (* 1874 in Dresden , † 1946 in Reichenbach in Vogtland ) was a German sculptor .
Life
Arthur Selbmann was born in Dresden in 1874. After finishing school he studied from 1889 to 1895 at the Dresden Art Academy with Johannes Schilling . Due to his extraordinary artistic talent, he soon became a master student and later Schilling's assistant. Selbmann went on a study trip to Rome in 1899 , returned to Dresden in 1900 and worked there freelance in his own studio. In addition to his life-size works, he created small bronze sculptures.
As a result of the air raids on Dresden in 1945, he lost his apartment and the studio in Glacisstrasse with all his works of art and designs.
