Arthur William Sidney Herrington

Arthur William Sidney Herrington (March 30, 1891 - September 6, 1970 ) was an American engineer and manufacturer who is famous for his well-known US Army Jeep during World War II .

Herrington began work on a new design for a military truck for rough terrain during World War I. The smallest was the four-wheel drive quarter-ton Jeep that was the prototype for many models of the 1930s and 1940s.

In World War II, the jeep served as a machine gun substructure, reconnaissance vehicle, taxi , garbage truck, limousine and much more. It was an all-round vehicle.
