Arthur of the East Sack

Arthur Carl Julius Ernst Adam Baron von der Osten-Sacken (born December 23, 1843 in Paddern near Hasenpoth , Kurland Governorate (today: Padure , Laža municipality , Latvia ); † May 27, 1912 ibid) was a German-Baltic landowner and politician .

Life

Arthur von der Osten-Sacken was born as the son of the landowner Carl Baron von der Osten-Sacken and his wife Johanna, née Baronesse von Korff. From the summer semester of 1864 to the summer semester of 1865, he studied chemistry at the University of Zurich . In August 1864 he became a member of the Baltica Zurich student union. From winter semester 1865 to the summer semester of 1866 he studied at the University of Berlin economics .

After completing his studies, he returned to his homeland in Courland, where he was lord of Appricken ( Apriķi ) and Paddern in the Hasenpoth district until his death . From 1874 to 1875 he was district marshal of Goldingen and from 1878 to 1890 district marshal of Hasenpoth. He was an honorary peace judge and mayor of the Hasenpoth district.
