Arto Laatikainen (born May 24, 1980 in Espoo ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho in the Liiga since July 2018 .
Career
Arto Laatikainen began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Espoo Blues , for whose professional team he was active in the SM-liiga from 1998 to 2008 . His greatest success with the team was reaching the runner-up in the 2007/08 season . He himself was awarded the Pekka Rautakallio trophy as the best defender in the league and was elected to their all-star team. From 2008 to 2010 he played for Färjestad BK in the Swedish Elitserien . With the FBK he won the Swedish championship title in the 2008/09 season .
For the 2010/11 season he moved within the Elitserien to Södertälje SK , with whom he had to accept relegation to HockeyAllsvenskan at the end of the season . He then left the team and joined the JYP Jyväskylä from his Finnish homeland for the 2011/12 season .
In July 2018 Laatikainen received a contract with Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho (HPK) and won the Finnish championship with the club in May 2019.
International
For Finland , Laatikainen took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1998 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 1999 and 2000 . At the U18 European Championship in 1998 he won the silver medal with his team. In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2007 and 2008 .
