Artur Elmer (born May 29, 1939 in Aalen ) is a German artist and art educator and has been the first chairman of the Aalen Art Association since it was founded in 1983 .

life and work

Elmer studied painting and art history from 1961 to 1965 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, as well as philosophy, history and political science at the University of Stuttgart . For many years he worked as a teacher for art education at the Theodor-Heuss -Gymnasium in Aalen.

Artur Elmer's work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions since the 1960s. In 2007 the painter had a major exhibition in the ARTCO gallery in Herzogenrath entitled: Metamorphoses - new pictures by the Aalen artist . His current artistic work was honored in 2014 in solo exhibitions at the Museum of Fantasy (Buchheim Museum) in Bernried on Lake Starnberg and at the Heidenheim Art Association.

Artur Elmer maintained contact with the painter, author and art collector Lothar-Günther Buchheim for many years . In addition, he maintains close relationships with artists, particularly from the African and Indian cultures.
