Artur von Fragstein

Artur von Fragstein (born July 18, 1905 in Breslau ; † after 1994) was a German classical philologist and historian of philosophy who dealt with ancient philosophy.

The son of the private teacher Konstantin von Fragstein and his wife Maria attended elementary school from 1911 to 1919. In addition, he received private tuition to prepare for the Abitur. First he learned the profession of elementary school teacher from 1919 to 1925. Then he studied classical philology and archeology in Breslau and received his doctorate in 1931 under Josef Kroll and Ludolf Malten on Isidor of Seville and the Scholia of Germanicus . He joined the NSDAP in 1933 and worked as a Landjahrführer . He did not find a job until 1937 at the College for Teacher Training in Dortmund as a lecturer in philosophy and education. His 1937 essay shows significant similarities with Nazi ideology. During the war he was drafted, but stayed at the Dortmund Teachers' Training College . After 1945 he became a teacher at a Dortmund high school in Aplerbeck until he retired in 1967. He was also at the academic examination office in Münster / W. active.
