Arturo Sudbrack Jamardo

Arturo Sudbrack Jamardo (born September 10, 1943 in Vitória , Brazil ; † March 22, 2019 in Munich ) was a Brazilian pianist who came from a German-Spanish family and lived in Munich.

life and work

He studied piano with Sebastian Benda at the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria in Brazil, later with Helena Costa in Portugal (scholarship holder of the Gulbenkian Foundation ), with Yvonne Lefébure in Paris and with Gerhard Puchelt in 1981 at the University of the Arts in Berlin .

He won the 2nd prize at the Heitor Villa-Lobos piano competition in Brazil and was 1st prize winner of the piano competition of the Associação Brasileira de Arte in Rio de Janeiro. He has given concerts with various orchestras in different countries. In Germany, he and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra gave the first performance of Heitor Villa-Lobos' 4th piano concerto.

His solo concert activities have taken him all over Europe, including Germany, Austria, Italy, France and Spain, as well as Brazil, Mexico and China. In recent years he has devoted himself more to educational work. He was a visiting professor and jury member at the Conservatoire Européen de Musique de Paris for several years. He has organized numerous lecture concerts, courses and seminars for piano at various conservatories and music academies in Europe and South America.

A CD recording with works by Alberto Ginastera and Heitor Villa-Lobos was released by Iton-Musik München in 1987. On the occasion of his recital at the Husum Piano Festival in 2003, he can be heard on a CD with works by Carlos Guastavino and Heitor Villa-Lobos, published by danacord in Denmark.
