It rises as Ituri in the northeast of the DR Congo in the Ituri province . From its source , which is west of the Central African Sill in the northwestern foothills of the Blue Mountains , the Ituri flows along these mountains to the south for the time being. It then bends to northwest and west and reaches Bomili , about 150 km further , at the mouth of the Nepoko , from where it is called Aruwimi . Soon afterwards it swings in a southwestern direction to flow 150 km further at Basoko into the Congo .
