Arvo Kuddo

Arvo Kuddo (born November 20, 1954 in Tartu ) is an Estonian economist and politician.

Life, economy, politics

Arvo Kuddo graduated from the Economics Faculty of Moscow University in 1978. In 1981 he received his doctorate in economics from Moscow .

From 1981 to 1990 Kuddo worked as a research assistant at the Economic Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR .

After Estonian independence was regained, Kuddo played an important role in the transformation from a Soviet dictatorship and planned economy to a democracy and market economy. From April 1990 to October 1991, Kuddo was Minister for Social Affairs of the Republic of Estonia in the cabinet of Prime Minister Edgar Savisaar , then Minister of Labor until January 1992. From January to October 1992, Kuddo was Minister of Labor in Prime Minister Tiit Vähi's cabinet .

In 1993, Kuddo joined Eesti Pank before joining the World Institute for Development Economics Research in Helsinki as an economist in 1994/95 . Since 1995 Kuddo has been working in the field of ergonomics at the World Bank .

He has presented numerous academic papers in his specialist areas of social policy and demography .
