Arweet

As arweet one is Elder a Aboriginestamms referred. An Arweet holds an important position with the Aborigines of the Boon wurrung and Wathaurong , two Aboriginal tribes of the indigenous Australians, the Kulin Alliance, who lived in the area from Western Port , Port Phillip , Geelong to Ballarat .

A arweet is the leader of his Aboriginal tribe and has the same status as a ngurungaeta the Wurundjeri .

Well-known significant Arweet are:

  • Derrimut (1810–1864), an important Arweet of the Yalukit Willam clan of the Bunurong
  • Ningerranarro (1847) as Benbow of Boon wurrung known
  • Noonallaboon (1842–1844), from the Burrumbeet Balug clan of the Wathaurong
  • Balybalip also called Bullurp Bullurp , Bil-le-bil-lup and Billy of Ballarat (1823–1881) from the clan of the Burrumbeet Balug of the Wathaurong
  • Worope from the Burrumbeet Balug clan of the Wathaurong
