Arwen Borowiak

Arwen Borowiak (born March 7, 2002 in Dresden ) is a German foil fencer and four-time German champion as well as U17 European champion.

Life

Arwen Borowiak began his sporting career with football at the age of six. In 2010 he started fencing through his brother at the Radebeul fencing club, where the cornerstone of his fencing training was laid by coach Robert Peche. From 2013 he attended the Sports High School in Dresden and switched to the Dresden Fecht Club under coaches Klaus Haertter and Peter Proske. There he was able to win many school tournaments and during this time he became a respected fencer himself abroad. At the age of 13, Borowiak finally moved to the Tauberbischofsheim fencing club at the Tauberbischofsheim Olympic training center there .

Career

In 2015 he achieved his first German championship title. Three more followed in 2016, 2018 and 2019. In 2017 he took part in the European and World Championships. In 2018, in addition to the German championship title, he also won the American championship title in the U17. In the same year he also took part in the European and World Cup.

In 2019 he became U17 European champion, placed among the top 8 at the U20 World Cup and qualified for the European and World Championships in the U17 and U20 age groups.

He finished the 2018/2019 season as 2nd in the U17 world rankings.
