The Ashchissu ( Russian Ащису ) is a river that runs almost entirely within the Pavlodar region in northeast Kazakhstan .

The Ashchissu rises north of the Karasor salt lake . It flows initially in an easterly direction, then in a north-westerly direction through the hill country north of the Kazakh threshold . At Tendik he then turns to the northeast and later completely to the east. It flows 40 km north of Bajanaul in an easterly direction and flows into the Alkamergen salt lake (according to other sources, it flows further to the Sharkol salt lake further east ).

The Ashchissu has a length of 348 km. Its catchment area covers 7420 km². The river is fed by the snowmelt . The Ashchissu often falls dry. The most important tributary of the Ashchissu is the Kurtjusek from the left.
